Hi! I’m Melanie, but most people call me Mel.
I have always loved working with children because they’re fun to work with and keep you on your toes! They always come up with something that you did not expect, showing their uniqueness. It’s satisfying to see children learn new skills through play and therapy sessions. I also like how much variety there is in my role as an Occupational Therapist – variety is the spice of life!
I enjoy getting to meet new families from all over the Peninsula and working with them to break down big goals into achievable steps. It’s all the little things that add up to make a big difference in a child’s development and in family life.
I have been working as an Occupational Therapist since 2011 in various roles. I’ve had experience in Early Childhood Intervention Services, Community Health Services and the Disability Sector before coming onboard with the Joy team in 2020.
Outside of work, I like adventure and being outdoors. I enjoy gardening, surfing and have recently started doing some (mini) triathlons!
